You’ll read us talk about “Immersiveness” a lot.
One of the reasons to carry a stick on a walk, is that we’re four-limbed animals. We only walk with two of them now, but our brains are wired up to explore our environment with our tactile senses. The brain of four legged animals are constantly processing information about their environment the terrain and the surfaces they’re crossing.
Sticks bring that back for us, bringing another sense back into the experience of walking. People walking with a stick find they are more “present”, more “draw in” to their walk. All walks are good, but walks with a stick get into the groove , that meditative, free-thinking feel faster.
And that can only be a good thing.
